Precision tubing and ready-to-assemble components for baby strollers

The technical challenge childcare products
Safety leaves no room for a bad batch
A chassis works under fatigue: thousands of folding cycles, dynamic loads, kerbs, stairs. Tubing that cracks or drifts batch to batch does not create a return — it creates a risk.
Lightness measured in real life
Weight is judged every morning, lifting the stroller with one hand and the child in the other. Saving weight means thinner walls — without losing the formability to bend without cracking.
The fold is the product
It is the first thing the buyer tries in the shop. A folding action is pivots, axles and sections that fit together. If there is play, the chassis creaks and the whole product feels cheap.
And all of it, on show
In premium childcare products the tubing is not hidden: it is the structure and it is the design, judged close up under shop lighting.
Applications where you will find us

Stroller chassis and exposed structures
- Thin walls, high strength. Tubing that takes tight bends without cracking or ovalisation, to lighten the chassis without compromising the structure.
- Exposed structure. When the tubing is part of the design, the PREMIUM range provides a bright, non-porous surface, ready for direct chrome, zinc or brass plating — no prior polishing.
- Non-circular profiles. Oval, flat oval or square sections to EN 10305-5, when the chassis design calls for it.

Folding mechanisms, axles and wheels
- Pivots and folding points. OPTIM range: simultaneous control of bore, outer diameter and wall thickness, internal weld bead ≤ 0.15 mm. The axle fits with exactly the clearance of the drawing — no play, no creaking in the second year.
- Wheel axles. The silent turn of a stroller wheel is not a luxury: it is what separates a premium brand from one that is not.
- Telescopic sections and guides. When two tubes slide one inside the other, the fit is everything: OPTIM or PRECISE depending on how smooth the action has to be.

Baby walkers and chrome-plated accessories
- Direct plating. Baby walkers, highchairs, playpens and framed carriers: chrome, zinc and brass plating with the as-supplied surface already prepared for the bath.
- Rolling and structure. To the same criteria as the chassis: light weight, strength and no play.
- Screen printing and decorative finishes. When the brand or graduations have to go on the metal part itself.
The right range for puericultura

Wheel axles, folding pivots and telescopic sections. Internal weld bead ≤ 0.15 mm, simultaneous control of bore and outer diameter.

Exposed structures and chassis. Bright outer finish for direct electroplating, with no prior polishing.

Mechanisms with internal sliding and larger-diameter sections. Mirror bore.
Not just the tubing: the finished part
- Component ready to assembleYou send the drawing; we deliver the tubing transformed into a finished part, bent, punched and surface finished to spec.
- Coil or cut-to-lengthDelivered in coil format or cut-to-length to eliminate end-of-bar scrap on automated lines.
- Certification with every deliveryEN 10204-2.2 or EN 10204-3.1 depending on your quality system. In-house laboratory at the plant.
Why childcare manufacturers trust Delmàs
A family-owned business in La Roca del Vallès, specialising exclusively in small-diameter welded and calibrated steel tubing (⌀ 3–25 mm).
Thin walls with the formability for tight bends: the central technical trade-off of a chassis, resolved when the tubing is made.
From tubing to assembled part. Global childcare brands outsource their complete metal manufacturing to Delmàs.
Manufacturing powered by renewable energy since 2006, with two photovoltaic self-consumption installations at the plant.
Questions we hear every week
How do you lighten a stroller chassis without losing strength?
With thin walls and the right formability. The problem is not reducing wall thickness: it is reducing it while keeping behaviour that allows tight bends without cracking or ovalisation. That balance is decided when the tubing is manufactured, not when it is bent.
Why does a stroller's folding mechanism creak?
Almost always because of play in the pivots. If the tubing acting as the axle retains a pronounced internal weld bead, or the diameter is not calibrated, play appears. The OPTIM range keeps the internal weld bead at ≤ 0.15 mm and calibrates the diameter to a hundredth of a millimetre.
Do you deliver the assembled chassis or just the tubing?
Both. As well as tubing in coil or cut to length, we transform the tubing into a finished component ready to assemble: bent, punched, end formed, machined and with whatever surface finish your drawing requires.
Does the tubing arrive ready for chrome plating?
Yes. The PREMIUM range is manufactured with a bright, non-porous outer surface, suitable for direct chrome, zinc or brass plating, with no prior polishing stage.
Do you manufacture the tubing or distribute it?
We manufacture it. Delmàs has been a manufacturer of welded and calibrated tubing since 1956, at its plant in La Roca del Vallès (Barcelona). We work from the customer's drawing, not from a standard catalogue.
