Precision tubing for low pressure and oil conduction: the alternative to seamless tubing

The technical challenge: when welded matches seamless
Why seamless has always been used
Seamless tubing has no weld seam, and so it has been regarded as the "safe" option for conducting fluids: no weld, no weld that can fail. It is valid reasoning at high pressure and in safety-critical applications.
Where that reasoning stops making sense
In a low-pressure circuit —oil conduction, cooling, return, lubrication, auxiliary and pilot circuits— the demand is not that of a high-pressure line. There, cold-drawn welded and calibrated tubing, with a mirror-finish bore and a controlled weld, meets the same sealing and flow requirements. The inherited fear stops being justified, but the extra cost is still there.
The real cost of seamless
40% to 80% more expensive than the equivalent precision welded tubing. And, beyond the price, lead times that are uncertain and unpredictable, forcing overstocking or holding up production.
What the PRECISE range brings
A mirror-finish bore to EN 10305-2, controlled concentricity and low-pressure sealing, with the availability and reliable planning of a specialist manufacturer.
Applications where you will find us

Low-pressure circuits
- Mirror bore The PRECISE range provides a roughness-free bore to EN 10305-2: the fluid flows without parasitic turbulence and the seals are not attacked by roughness.
- Low-pressure sealing Welded and calibrated tubing seals the circuit with the reliability low pressure requires.
- Diameter and wall thickness made to measure, adjusted to the flow rate and working pressure of each circuit.

Oil conduction
- Clean, constant flow The mirror bore and the absence of an internal weld bead maintain the flow rate and prevent particle retention.
- Bore-finish compatibility A surface prepared for continuous contact with the oil without degrading the flow.
- Batch-to-batch consistency, so that the whole run of circuits behaves the same.

Supply and service
- Predictable availability against seamlessThe biggest hidden cost of seamless tubing is not the price: it is the uncertain lead time that forces overstocking. As a specialist manufacturer, we offer reliable planning.
- Coil format or cut-to-lengthCoil supply eliminates end-of-bar scrap on automated lines. Cut-to-length delivers the tubing at exactly the length specified in the drawing.
- Documentary certification with every deliveryWe issue certification to EN 10204-2.2 (declaration of conformity with non-specific inspection results) or EN 10204-3.1 (inspection certificate with specific results for the batch supplied), depending on what the customer's quality system requires. In-house laboratory at the plant.
Why hydraulic engineering trusts Delmàs
A family-owned business in La Roca del Vallès, specialising exclusively in small-diameter welded and calibrated steel tubing (⌀ 3–25 mm).
We replace seamless tubing where it is technically appropriate —low pressure— and we say so clearly where it is not —high pressure.
The bore a fluid circuit needs, without paying the price of extruded tubing.
Manufacturing powered 100% by renewable energy since 2006, with two photovoltaic self-consumption installations at the plant.
Questions we hear every week
Can welded tubing replace seamless tubing in a hydraulic circuit?
At low-pressure, yes. The PRECISE range offers a mirror-finish bore to EN 10305-2 and the sealing a low-pressure circuit requires, at 40% to 80% lower cost than seamless. At high pressure or critical applications, seamless tubing remains the recommended option, and we say so.
How much do you save against seamless tubing?
The equivalent precision welded tubing costs 40% to 80% less than seamless. On top of that comes the saving of not having to overstock because of seamless's uncertain lead times.
Why does seamless have such long lead times?
Because of its manufacturing process and supply chain, seamless tubing arrives with uncertain, unpredictable lead times. As a specialist in calibrated welded tubing, Delmàs offers reliable availability and planning.
Up to what pressure does your PRECISE range work?
We position ourselves in low-pressure circuits. Tell us the working pressure of your circuit and we will confirm honestly whether the PRECISE range is the right solution or whether your application requires seamless tubing.
Do you manufacture the exact size my flow rate calls for?
Yes. We do not standardise: we adjust bore, outer diameter and wall thickness to a hundredth of a millimetre, according to the flow rate and pressure of your circuit.
